Join The Georgia Trust!

The Georgia Trust works for historic preservation in many different ways, and you can help us...
...work with Georgia’s Main Street cities to revitalize their historic downtowns into more commercially successful and architecturally appealing business areas.

...encourage all levels of government to actively promote the protection and preservation of historic sites and buildings.

...help Georgia’s teachers learn how to
use local historic resources
to engage students in local, state and national history, language arts and visual arts.

...operate two historic houses containing significant and fascinating stories of Georgia’s past: Hay House in Macon and Rhodes Hall in Atlanta.

...and yes, save old houses with our Endangered Properties program, with which we acquire significant historic buildings that might otherwise be lost to demolition or neglect and sell them to owners ready to rehabilitate them.

Are you a preservation professional? Join the Trust as one of our Preservation Professionals, Georgia's network of developers, property owners, design professionals, contractors, craftsmen and suppliers in the building industry and related fields engaged in rehabilitating and maintaining the state’s historic buildings in association with The Georgia Trust.
Who are we?

The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, chartered in 1973, is the nation’s largest statewide preservation organization, with more than 8,000 members. Through their donations of money, time and interest, our members enable us to protect and preserve Georgia’s historic resources.

The Trust is the recipient of the 1998 Trustees Award for Organizational Excellence from the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Join us as we work to spread the preservation ethic in Georgia.

In addition to the satisfaction you’ll receive knowing you are supporting historic preservation in Georgia, you’ll also enjoy...

...rambling through Georgia

with the Trust on overnight trips to historic sites in Georgia communities. Rambles include tours, expert historical and architectural commentary, relaxed social gatherings, and fun activities for the whole family.

...studying abroad
on semi-annual study tours – domestic and international – to historic areas outside Georgia.

...attending the Annual Meeting
where we celebrate each year’s preservation achievements by presenting annual preservation awards and scholarships to worthy individuals, organizations and projects. Along with the business meeting and awards ceremony, the Annual Meeting includes a “mini-Ramble.”

...visiting Trust house museums for free
and marveling at the unusual faux finishes of Hay House in Macon and the magnificent stained glass windows at Rhodes Hall in Atlanta.

...partying for preservation
at several popular annual events benefiting the Trust, such as the Preservation Classic golf tournament held in autumn; and the Preservation Ball in the winter.

...receiving the latest news
about current preservation issues, threatened historic resources and organizational activities in the Trust’s bi-monthly publication, The Rambler.

...two-for-one admission to the Atlanta Preservation Center's Walking Tours
